A DAY AT ALMASTY BREWING CO | SHIREMOOR NEWCASTLE

The Almasty or Alma (Mongolian: Алмас/Almas, Bulgarian: Алмас, Chechen: Алмазы, Turkish: Albıs), Mongolian for "wild man", is a purported hominid cryptozoological species reputed to inhabit the Caucasus and Pamir Mountains of central Asia, and the Altai Mountains of southern Mongolia.[1] The creature is not currently recognised or cataloged by science. So now you know.

Almasty is also an amazing craft ale brewery located in Shiremoor, Newcastle. It started last year & due to the super brewing skills of Mark, the ace graphic design (shouts to Linaker) and support from the well established booze mecca of The Free Trade Inn, it's the best thing to happen to ale in Newcastle since Brown Bottle.

Almasty held an open day last Saturday, a few photos below:

TROPICAL IPA,
A PAIR OF ALMASTY GROWLERS

THE CUSTOM GLASS IS CLASS, OBVS
The open day itself was very chilled - a good selection of Almasty's current range (see below) plus wood fired pizzas, decent music, no mooks & pretty unbelievably for Shiremoor, actual North East sunshine. Perfect.

A PROPER MENU

BREWERY
SUNSHINE
MURO BURO
As well as the booze & food, Paul aka Muro Buro was showing his print work, Super good. Head to his website to browse & buy.

So in brief, Almasty is ace. If you see if anywhere, check it out. It'll hopefully by available in places like Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool very soon. In the meantime, head to the Fair Trade.

Also, props to Mark for sorting out a celebrity guest on Saturday - Larry David!
Pretty, pretty good....

A TOUR AROUND THE NEW CLOUDWATER BREWERY | MANCHESTER UK

Visited the new Cloudwater Brewery last night. As a brand new facility it's very impressive & well worth a visit, if just for the spotless stainless steel alone.

The tour itself was excellent, led by Paul Jones & ex-Marble brewing genius James Campbell. They've got plans for a huge range of ales over the coming weeks and months - check out the Cloudwater blog for the latest updates.

For the ales themselves, spotted this fine looking menu when we want back to Port Street

We were given Cloudwater-branded glasses to try their 'IPA' and 'session'.  Very good they were too. Get sampling as soon as you can.

Also at Port Street, was good to spot a poster for the Eighty Six Easter party at sister venue The Beagle on Sunday April 4th...

The Cloudwater Brewery Tap will be open every Saturday 11am - 4pm, click here for more details.

& look out for the Cloudwater range in a decent alehouse near you soon
